With spring close at hand and 2015 off to such a good we decided to keep the heat on high and nothing makes us around thing of pure heat like our main man Spoon. Brother Spoon drops “Foundations” which is the first in a series of new Soulsupplement Ep’s and trust me he comes out strong with this hot two tracker.
From the first beat of Spoon’s original mix of “Foundations” you start to feel the classic Spoon vibe that we all know and love. This time he strips the track down to nothing but the good stuff and that’s the way we like it. He gives us some four on the floor rhythm and then adds some accent percussion that provide nice movement. Spoon layers in some deep bass lines, a few synth bits and a sprinkling of vocal snips to complete this subconscious groover.
“You Know, Do You” is a quirky number that has the ability to get into your head and provide your brain with a soundtrack. A bouncy rhythm section is the first thing you will notice, however it’s the many little bits here and there he has in the background that will have you trying to nail each one down. After the break Spoon changes the tone and overall vibe with a beefy bass line and a prominent vocal bits filtered to perfection. We all dig this one here in the compound.
We like this one so much we’ve decided to have another release party so if you’re in Las Vegas on 28 February drop by the Downtown Cocktail Room to see Spoon, Bruno Browning and DCR Resident Douglas Gibbs on the decks. We would love to have you all help us kick off this fine release.
